5-9-04...Wishing Dad a safe trip as he left on his solo drive to California

Dad was actually passed by a truckload of turkeys in Nebraska.

After the turkeys the next interesting thing was the view leaving Denver.

Can you believe Dad took this picture? Looks like an oil painting.

Warm and sunny at the summit in Colorado. Elevation 10,000 ft.

Vail, Colorado without snow.

Yeah! Somebody stopped in Parachute, CO to buy souvenirs,

It got just a little bit colder in the big and windy desert of Utah.

Dad drove 1,963 miles in 2.5 days. He was slowed down taking pictures.

Finally the huge and beautiful Utah desert is in Dad's rearview mirror.

Passing through Las Vegas, construction and traffic were heavy.

Good thing Dad only saw Las Vegas from the freeway....he didn't stop!

Where Dad's staying in CA. I'll join him for a few weeks in mid-summer.

Loma Linda Univserity Campus area viewed from deck at Dad's place.

Loma Linda University Medical Center main entrance

I can't wait to see these huge windmills near Palm Springs.

Dad found this comfortable and affordable place to stop over.

Here in Laguna Beach I'll trade skateboard for a boogie board!

Dad couldn't wait for me! He had to test the surf for himself!

Ocean view of Laguna Beach from high atop the San Joaquin Hills.

View from huge pier off Seal Beach. Long Beach is in distant background.

Looks like Dad decided to try a little fishing. Is he starting a beard? Yikes!

He said Seal Beach is his favorite beach so far. Says it has best view!

After our CA stay, Dad and I will drive back home. Almost 2,000 mi.
