(Trip Home)

Medical mission completed, we depart Loma Linda Univ. Med. Ctr.

...headed up the coast through
LA and then Santa Barbara (above)

Just north of Santa Barbara we passed these vineyards.

Coast near San Simeon. Dad said
I should win an award for this pic ; )

"Take the picture!
I'm not stepping back any further!"

I don't think I'll be doing any surfing here along the San Simeon coast!

We stopped in Cambria to check out this vintage automobilia store.

Peter, owner of the store, holding a $5,000 crystal hood ornament!

And now it's on to visit the famous Hearst Castle!

I told Dad I only wanted to stop at places with swimming pools!

Preferably both an outdoor and an indoor pool, please!

Oh, and it would be nice if it had a decent view as well.

Talking to Mom as we begin the beautiful drive up the Big Sur!

These roads are curvy, Dad.
You sure you took Driver's Ed?

Now that's an incredible 100 mile drive we won't forget for a long time!

Next it's San Francisco! View from hotel room. Alcatraz in background.

Dad's credit card really got a workout here at Pier 39!

There was quite a crowd at Pier 39 that day! Sea lions included!

At the pier we took a break to make some souvenir candles!

Here I am chatting with my new friend, a "living statue"!

A more famous statue! The Thinker by Rodin at Legion of Honor.

You can't visit San Francisco without riding the cable cars!

Or without driving down Lombard, the Crookedest Street in the World!

Our hotel was right next to the Triangle Building and Chinatown.

At the San Francisco Wax Museum
I was scared stiff by Beetlejuice...

...ran into the one and only
Sylvester Stallone as Rambo...

...and Dad saw one of his old classmates, Abe Lincoln.

One last look at the Pacific Ocean at San Francisco's Seal Rock.

Thanks to a wrong turn by Dad, we were temporarily lost in Oakland.

We had a blast visiting
The Biggest Little City in the World!

There's still more to come!
Utah, Nebraska and Iowa!
